SUMMARY:Opening Reception: "Frank Buffalo Hyde: AL·TER·NA·TIVE"
DESCRIPTION:Join All My Relations Arts and the Native American Community
Development Institute Thursday\, May 9th for an evening celebrating the
opening reception for AL·TER·NA·TIVE.\nThis solo exhibition features
a collection of paintings and sculptures from artist Frank Buffalo Hyde
(Onondaga/Niimíipuu (Nez Perce)). The night will feature food and refr
eshments by Trickster Tacos and a DJ set by Wathéča Records. All are w
 elcome.\n\n\nAbout the exhibition:Vivid and pop-culture saturated\, Fran
k Buffalo Hyde's work reflects on the commodification of Indian culture\
, and the assertive roles for Native American identity in the contempora
 ry world. Self-proclaimed as consciously\, culturally non-transactional\
, Frank’s work comments on cultural appropriation and societal disrupt
ion through his uncompromising satirical eye. A defiant take on the skew
ed perceptions of Native American art and culture tourism\, Frank’s al
legorical work is geared towards Native people first and disarms through
banter while making references to antiquated technology in conversation
with the metaverse\; and provides a layered commentary on the collectiv
 e unconscious of the 21st century.\n\nOn View: May 9th - July 13th\, 202
