Third Annual Pickle-Off at the Four Sisters Farmers Market

Join IHB and NACDI for our third annual Pickle-Off!

This September, under Manoominike-giizis (wild rice moon) / Psiŋhnaketu Wi (rice drying moon), we at Four Sisters wanted to celebrate the act of storing and preserving goods for the long winter we face in Minnesota with our “Preservation Month” activities. The act of curing, pickling, drying, freezing, canning, and collecting our foods is food sovereignty work we all do in our own ways and what better way to celebrate it than with pickles.

The Pickle-Off is a friendly neighborhood competition open to all. Community judges anonymously rate and vote for the best pickle in both “dill” and “special” categories, with first place winners going home with a “best pickle” trophy and all contestants going home with an award! The Pickle- Off will be held at our Four Sisters Farmers Market (1414 E. Franklin Avenue) on Thursday, September 26th. The event will begin at noon but feel free to stop by any time in the afternoon to bask in the pickling festivities like a pickle themed giveaway, face paint, pickle samples, lemonade and more!
