Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid Community Clinics
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid Community Clinics
MMLA has a community clinics department focused on increasing accessibility to effective legal services. MMLA has two legal clinics located at Native American led organizations: Division of Indian Work and Minneapolis American Indian Center.
The Division of Indian Work Legal Clinic is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-3pm every week. The Minneapolis American Indian Center Legal Clinic is open on the second Wednesday of every month from 10am-3pm. Both clinics have appointments available and walk-ins are welcome. To schedule appointments, reach out to DIW or MAIC or email legalaid@diw-mn.org.
The attorney on site is available to answer questions or provide representation concerning civil legal matters including divorce, custody issues, domestic violence protections, landlord/tenant disputes, eviction defense, criminal expungement, and consumer/small debt issues. The attorney is also able to make internal referrals to MMLA’s other departments such as the Elder Law Department, Minnesota’s Disability Law Center, and the Youth Law Project. Legal Aid’s services are free to those who meet the income requirements or are over the age of 65.
