The Art of Saving Democracy at the Minneapolis American Indian Center

A community-wide early voting event will be held at Little Earth on Tuesday, October 27th. In preparation, we will be hosting an event entitled “The Art of Saving Democracy” on Monday, October 26th at the American Indian Center from 5-7pm. This event will feature three short animated films that are centered on Native Rights and ICE; local hip hop artist Tall Paul, interactive art making stations, and a presentation from Na Eng on the toolkit: “The Art of Saving Democracy,” written by Na Eng and Jamie Lee Curtis.

We have had workshops and heard the trepidation and fear from the Native
American community. What is galvanizing to them is when they are referred to as ‘protectors’ rather than ‘protestors.’ We want to encourage early voting and organized mobilization for all community members so that on Election Day we will be able to protect the community from the expected surge in voter interference and intimidation.
