Calendar:

Join us Saturday, August 3rd for the opening reception of “Arikara Proper,” a solo exhibition of paintings by artist J. White.

Featuring live music from local band Black Widows, food courtesy of Trickster Tacos and more!

6-9pm; all are welcome to this free event.

About the exhibition:

A self-taught painter, J. White shares her culture through the lens of an urban Indian. White’s work depicts and celebrates her Northern Plains culture, while capturing and exploring obscure emotions through abstract expressionism. A narrative painter who works exclusively in acrylic, White uses vibrant, colorful hues and signature stylistics allowing color to shape form and subject. Through recurring representational elements of stars, quilts, buffaloes, horses and Native women, White showcases empowerment and highlights culture-driven storytelling.

On view: August 1st-October 5th 2024
